Step zero
You sign in first — then the hunt starts
Signing in connects the trail to your one Humboldt.fyi account — the same one holding your reviews and trip history — so your stamps, points, photos, and rewards travel with you and aren't stuck on one device.

2
Sign in with your account
The same Humboldt.fyi account as your reviews and trip history. No payment, ever.
Ties your progress to your account
3
Allow location & camera
GPS proves you're standing at the monument. The camera takes your stamp photo. Both are asked once, at your first check-in.
Why an account
Your stamps follow you across days and devices — start in Eureka, finish in Arcata next weekend.
Rewards are protected
A free coffee is tied to your account, so a closed tab or a dead battery can't cost you what you earned.
Your photos stay private
Every shot lands in your own gallery. Nothing is shown publicly unless you specifically opt in.
On the trail
The monuments of Humboldt County
Painted walls, Victorian landmarks and bronze on the bay — the trail runs from Old Town Eureka out through the little towns along the coast.

The loop
How a monument gets stamped
01
Pick a monument on the map
Twelve murals and landmarks to start. Tap a pin for the story, the artist, and how far you are from it.
02
Walk there with directions
Directions hands you off to your Maps app for a walking route. Clue cards give you the riddle version if you'd rather hunt.
03
Check in at the wall
Stand within a short radius, take the mural photo in the app, and the stamp hits your passport. GPS keeps it honest.
04
Stack bonus points
A selfie at the mural, an AR Bigfoot photo, or an Instagram post of your shot — each one adds points on top of the stamp.
05
Cash stamps in at the counter
Show your reward screen to staff and tap to redeem together. No scanner, no printout, one per visit.
What you get
Stamps become real local rewards
5
Free coffee
Five stamps unlocks a drink on the house at a participating café.
9
10% off at partners
Nine stamps turns on a standing discount at reward-partner shops on the trail.
12
Finish the trail
Complete all twelve and take home the Humboldt calendar — plus a spot on the finishers' wall.
Reward partners on the map
Amber tag pins are the places that honor your rewards. Filter the map to show only them.
Fair play
Four rules, that's the whole rulebook
Be there in person
Check-ins only count inside a short radius of the monument.
Live camera only
Shots are taken in the app. The one exception is an Instagram screenshot for social proof.
One stamp per monument
Bonus actions add points, but each place stamps your passport once.
Respect the art
Don't touch the walls, don't trespass, and keep out of traffic to get the shot.
